Did you get a letter from Fidelis or another insurance company saying you have to change therapists?

A recent change with NYS law means Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) can
now be enrolled with Medicaid. Some insurance companies (including Fidelis) are
sending letters saying providers will not be covered if they are not currently on the list of
enrolled Medicaid providers.
All of our LMHCs have had their applications submitted and have been enrolled with Medicaid.
You do not have to change therapists.  If there are any further concerns noted by your insurance company, please talk with our staff.

General Psychological Services

We provide high quality psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, relationships and families. We strive to provide optimal quality treatment in a comfortable environment. We coordinate with appropriate medical professionals as needed. Office management staff assist in the ease of insurance billing and reimbursement. Treatment can occur through individual psychotherapy or couple and family psychotherapy.  Our therapists use empirically validated approaches to ensure high quality psychotherapy.  Yet, therapy is individualized for each person and the specific needs that are presented. We also provide a variety of educational and medical psychological evaluations and consultations.  Psychological assessment offer objective measurements of individuals.  These are tools that can provide a great resource for the schools system when there is a question of learning or behavioral problems.  More medical procedures are requiring psychological evaluations to determine whether the patient is psychologically appropriate for the medical intervention.  Our reports back to the referring agency our clear and focused on the questions at hand.

We can provide consultation and trainings to community organizations.  Some of our staff are adjunct professors at local colleges and are excellent trainers.  RKA can offer training to community and local agencies for their staff and clinicians.  We also present our services at local community events such as “Out of the Darkness Walks” and “Take Back the Night.”

Forensic Psychological Services

RKA can offer many consultations to the legal community.  These include child-custody evaluations, sexual abuse validation evaluations, parental fitness evaluation, competency to stand trial exam, need for guardian ad litem, penile plethysmography evaluations, and general psychological evaluations needed for litigation.  Our psychological staff has many years of experience with consultation to the legal community and providing expert witness testimony.
