During appropriate weather months, Dr. Megan McRae is able to offer Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy Classes. These classes meet biweekly and explore communication, coping, and connection skills between participants, within themselves, and with the world surrounding us, making use of the interactions and responses from the equine facilitators. In each session, we embrace whatever it is we bring with us to explore and focus on finding support from all the sources around and within us. By working together, we discovering ways to feel less overwhelmed

In our Adult Women’s Class, we learn to let ourselves take up space and find our voices rather than hiding behind expectations. Too often, we find ourselves feeling isolated and alone even when around others. The women’s group focuses on building a grounded connection, both internally and externally, and emphasizes the healing we are able to find in building healthy relationships and exploring our own needs and experiences. No previous equine or riding experience necessary. Activities are primarily unmounted.

In our Youth Class, we focus on social skills and engagement while encouraging building communication, strengths, and exploring new experiences. Our youths are encouraged to set goals and explore what it means to work towards these goals. Goals may include horsemanship skills, but no prior experience or riding abilities are required. Activities are tailored to the participants in each class and generally involve unmounted interaction experiences.

Each class is held biweekly during summer months. If interested, please reach out to mmcrae@rkapsych.com for further information and pricing. Classes are held off site at a private residence.
